Yom Kippur Death Salon with Jordanna Ibghy

Openlev is honored to be hosting a ritual gathering with designer and death care innovator Jordanna Ibghy and musician Leah Siegel.

Yom Kippur is often understood as a rehearsal for death: a day when we abstain from the pleasures of the body, wear white, and confront our own impermanence.

During the days of awe, join us for an intimate ritual experience and guided conversation on death and renewal. Together, we will reflect on what we are ready to release, return to what matters, and set intentions for the year ahead. Through Jewish wisdom, candlelight, and community, we will honor Yom Kippur’s invitation to face mortality not as an ending—but as an opportunity to return to life with clarity, humility, and purpose.

Your Hosts: Jordanna Ibghy is a designer and deathcare innovator working at the intersection of death, design, and ritual ecology. She is the Founder of Urth Ritual, a startup creating biodegradable mycelium burial products, and the Co-Founder of Makom Manitou, a Jewish cemetery in Quebec weaving ecological, cultural, and spiritual practices. Jordanna’s work invites us to contemplate our relationship with mortality and the natural cycles of life and death as a practice for mindful living.
